Wearing Oversized Clothes

Wearing oversized clothes has become very popular recently. Who wouldn't want to be in looser, more comfortable clothes if given the option? Whether it is a big cozy sweater in the chillier days or a large shirt or blouse during the hotter months of the year, oversized pieces seem like a great comfort choice. But, it can be challenging to incorporate these oversized pieces if you are going for a more put together chic look. Sacrificing comfort isn’t necessary. It is all about how you pair these pieces or style them that can elevate your look and allow you to bring your true personality into the look. Because you want people to see you before they see what you are wearing and not associate you with a frumpy looking outfit. Here are some tricks to elevate your oversized look.

Let's say you are going for an oversized sweater look. It is all about balance. It tends to be better to balance an oversized piece with a more form filling piece so people can still see your figure. In addition, try a darker color pair of pants to reduce the volume of the look. Say a dark pair of blue jeans. The Jeans to not have to be skinny jeans all the way down, but if they are a bit tighter to wear the sweater ends, that will make a big difference. This is a good trick for any oversized top.

If your sweater is a bit thinner, try tucking it into your pants, shorts or skirt. You can just tuck in the front part a little to draw peoples eyes to the outline of your figure. This is a good trick for when you are wearing looser pants with an oversized top.

If your sweater is too big to tuck in, try showing a bit of skin somewhere else to balance it out. For example, if you have long hair, wear it up to show your neck. In addition, wearing dangly earrings helps to elongate your figure a bit more by shifting peoples eyes up to your face. You can also try pushing up or rolling up the sleeves a bit to show your wrists.

Something to consider when wearing or shopping for oversized pieces is you don't want it to end right at the widest part of your hips. If it does this and you can't tuck it in, it will be hard to work into your personal style. You want to think in rules of three. The piece should have some end point near your navel area or all the way over your glute. This will give the appearance of two proportions to the top and one to the bottom or vice versa. It is better to have an odd number of area proportions because the brain likes to pair an even number of items together, which will give less breath to your ensemble.
